Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, progressive, systemic inflammatory disease characterized by the progressive destruction of synovial joints. Early diagnosis and initiation of therapy with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) is essential to achieving optimal clinical outcomes. The activities in this resource center are focused on aiding the primary care practitioner on recognizing rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in its early stages, the continuing management of patients with RA, and coordination of care with the rheumatologist. Support for the Rheumatoid Arthritis Primary Care Initiative for Improved Diagnosis and Outcomes (RAPID) educational initiative and community resource center has been provided through educational grants from AbbVie; Janssen Biotech, Inc. administered by Janssen Services, LLC; Pfizer; and UCB.
