Biography

Dr. Bazil received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his PhD (pharmacology) and medical degree from Emory University. He was a Neurology Resident and Chief Resident at New York University and a Clinical Fellow in Epilepsy/EEG at the Neurological Institute of Columbia University. He is board certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Bazil’s research interests are primarily in the effects of sleep and sleep disorders on epilepsy and learning. He is the epilepsy section editor for Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, and a member of the Editorial Boards of The Medical Letter and Epilepsy.com. He has published over 80 articles in professional journals, has edited a book on sleep and epilepsy (Sleep and Epilepsy: The Clinical Spectrum), has contributed 20 chapters to various texts in his field, and has written a book for patients on epilepsy (Living Well With Epilepsy and Other Seizure Disorders).
