Biography

Dr. Benz is President and CEO of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Chief Executive Officer of Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare, Principal Investigator and Director of Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. He is the Richard and Susan Smith Professor of Medicine, Professor of Pediatrics, Professor of Pathology, and Faculty Dean for Oncology at Harvard Medical School. Past President of both the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Investigation, Dr. Benz is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Associate Editor of the New England Journal of Medicine. An internationally renowned hematologist, he remains an active NIH funded investigator and clinician with expertise in red blood disorders and the molecular basis of inherited anemias.
