Biography

John F. Delaney Jr, MD, MPH, DrPH, is Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. In addition, he practices neurology and psychiatry in Pittsburgh. Dr. Delaney received his medical degree from The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, followed by a surgical internship at the Health Centers Hospitals. He then completed teaching fellowships in neurosurgery at the Health Centers Hospitals, in Psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and in Neurology at The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He holds an MPH and a DrPH from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. A Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and American College of Physician Executives, Dr. Delaney is certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology and Psychiatry with a Subspecialty in Geriatric Psychiatry. He is a Distinguished Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of several other professional societies. He has been published in several scientific journals on topics including new treatments for bipolar disease, treatment of migraine headaches, and Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease in extended care facilities.
