Jim Foody earned a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in biochemistry from the University of Illinois in Chicago and his MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. After a service obligation to the National Health Service he joined the faculty at the University of Chicago. Among other positions, he was Chief of General Internal Medicine and Medical Director of the University of Chicago Physicians Group. He is currently the Vice Chairman of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and practices in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. The residents at Northwestern voted him the Roy Patterson Award for teaching excellence. In 2014 they elected him to the Teaching Hall of Fame for the Department of Medicine. He is the 2013 recipient of the Laureate Award of the Illinois Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Foody is a graduate of University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. After several years repaying NHSC scholarship, he joined the faculty at University of Chicago as Director of the UC Physicians Group off campus practice, and eventually served as interim chief of General Internal Medicine twice. In 2001 he came to Northwestern University as vice chairman for clinical affairs and professor. He has won multiple teaching awards and was chosen by internal medicine residents as a member of the Teaching Hall of Fame. He served a term as governor for ACP Northern Illinois, including election to the ACP Executive Board of Governors. He has worked with Pri-Med nearly from its origin and has lectured many times in Anaheim, Chicago, and Boston.
