Jennifer B. Green, MD

Dr Jennifer Green is an associate professor of medicine in the division of endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition at Duke University; is a faculty member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute; and has served as chief of the endocrinology section at the Durham VA medical center since 2003. Dr Green’s research has focused primarily upon strategies to predict, prevent, and treat diabetes mellitus. In particular, she is interested in the effects of various interventions to modify glycemic control, dyslipidemia, and hypertension upon cardiovascular and other diabetes-related complications. She has served as an investigator in clinical trials of glycemic management in type 2 diabetes including ACCORD, BARI 2D, and the recently-initiated GRADE study. Her work with the DCRI includes protocol development as well as clinical and operational leadership for the institution’s management of the international cardiovascular outcomes trial TECOS, which assessed the impact of sitagliptin therapy upon cardiovascular event rates. Dr Green completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Virginia, her internal medicine residency at the University of North Carolina, and her endocrinology fellowship at Duke University.
