John B. Herman

Biography

Dr. Herman is Director of Clinical Services in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He also serves as Medical Director for Partners HealthCare Employee Assistance Program. In 2002, Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney appointed Dr. Herman to the Commonwealth's Board of Registration in Medicine. Dr. Herman is past President of the American Association of Directors of Psychiatry Residency Training. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Following his residency at MGH, in 1984 Dr. Herman joined the staff of the MGH Psychopharmacology and Addiction clinics where he remains in active practice. Until 2003, for 14 years Dr. Herman directed the department's nationally renowned continuing education program, Harvard Medical School's most successful post-graduate educational offering.
