Dr. Howard Libman is Attending Physician, Division of General Medicine and Primary Care, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical School (BIDMC) and Professor of Medicine, Emeritus, at Harvard Medical School. He is also Deputy Editor for Primary Care at UpToDate, His previous positions included Director of the HIV Program in Healthcare Associates, the hospital-based primary care clinic; Chief of the Education Section of the Division of General Medicine and Primary Care; and Ambulatory Training/Primary Care Program Director at BIDMC. Dr. Libman's career has focused on training medical residents and students in primary care internal medicine, caring for patients with HIV infection, and educating health care practitioners in this field. He provides regional and international training through his work with the New England AIDS Education and Training Center and the Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam, respectively. He is co-editor of the textbook, HIV, three editions of which have been published by the American College of Physicians. He is also a core faculty member of the International Antiviral Society-USA.
