Biography

A board-certified endocrinologist, Dr. Mathioudakis focuses his clinical practice on the care of patients with endocrine disorders, with a particular clinical interest and research focus on diabetes mellitus. His main research focus is on discovering ways to improve patient safety and quality among hospitalized patients with diabetes. He is the Clinical Director of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. He is also the Endocrine Director of the Johns Hopkins Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot and Wound Clinic and is actively investigating the causes and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Dr. Nestoras Mathioudakis graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He did a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and then joined the faculty in this division in 2012. Dr. Mathioudakis received his Master of Heath Science degree in clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2015. He is currently the recipient of an NIH funded grant to develop and evaluate a real-time informatics alert for prevention of insulin-associated hypoglycemia in hospitalized patients.
