Biography

Melanie Smith, MD is a board-certified, full-time palliative care attending at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Dr. Smith received her undergraduate degree at University of Pennsylvania and her medical degree at Northwestern. After completing her residency in Internal Medicine and Primary Care at New York University, she returned to Northwestern for fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She joined the faculty there where she focuses on her interests in outpatient palliative care, palliative care for adolescents and young adults with cancer, and improving clinician-communication skills.
