Biography

Dace Trence, MD, MACE is professor-emeritus of medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle. She served as the Director of the Diabetes Care Center at the University of Washington, and as Director of the University of Washington’s Endocrine Fellowship Program. She is currently on the Board of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), immediate past Chair of the Disease State Networks Oversight Committee, and is a member of the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee. She is also the immediate past editor of Empower magazine, AACE’s informational journal for the lay public. She has been an organizer and presenter in AACE’s Day for Diabetes CME sessions in Seattle, Portland, and Boise. She has been Chapter chair of AACE’s Pacific Northwest Chapter, which covered Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon. She is also the immediate past Chair of Endocrine Days- an educational forum that hosts a day of endocrine speakers from the Pacific Northwest as well as nationally, given twice annually to both academic and community endocrinologists in the region. She has over 100 publications, including a chapter on treatment of hyperglycemia in the 5th edition of The Art and Science of Diabetes Self-Management Education.Eds Cornell, Halstenson and Miller American Association of Diabetes Educators, Chicago- 2020 Dace Trence was honored by the 2014 AACE Outstanding Clinical Endocrinologist Award and in 2017 by the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) John Seibel Award. She is a recipient of the 2019 (ACE) Master of Clinical Endocrinology award.
