  1. Incorporate systemic therapies, surgery and radiation into multimodal management strategies for esophageal, gastric and pancreatic cancers, based on recent clinical trial results and current expert opinion
  2. Take patient histories that are designed to identify patients at high risk of a familial gastrointestinal cancer syndrome, use genetic testing effectively, and design management strategies that are appropriate for specific syndromes
  3. Understand and communicate to their patients specific lifestyle alterations and chemopreventative approaches that are likely to reduce the risk of recurrence in gastrointestinal cancer patients
  4. Choose the most appropriate systemic therapies for advanced and metastatic colorectal cancers, including adjuvant therapy when needed in earlier stage cancers, based on patient characteristics, current expert opinion and recent clinical trial results
