Biography

Lawrence W. Bassett, M.D. is the Iris Cantor Professor of Breast Imaging and Director of Breast Imaging at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA since 1975. On the national level he has served as the Chair of the Breast Task Force, the Committee on Breast Imaging, the Mammography Accreditation Committee, and the Committee on Guidelines and Standards of the new Breast Imaging Commission of the American College of Radiology; as President of the Society of Breast Imaging; as Co-Chair of the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research Clinical Practice Guideline for Quality Mammography and as a member of the original FDA National Mammography Quality Assurance Advisory Committee. Dr. Bassett has been editor or co-editor of 20 books, 159 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, 25 case reports, 75 invited articles, and 58 chapters or monographs.
