Biography

John Chin, MD, is an associate clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, Davis. He received his undergraduate and his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, where he also served his residency. He is the medical director of the Cardiac Transplant Program and Advanced Heart Failure Therapy Service and director of the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, California. In addition he is the director of Cardiac Telemetry at Mercy General Hospital also in Sacramento. Dr Chin is actively involved in clinical research in the areas of congestive heart failure, cardiac transplantation, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and coronary intervention and device therapy. At Sutter he initiated the VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) program and completed the Prevent Registry for LVAD patients. He is involved in advanced heart failure therapeutics. He has been the local primary investigator for multiple studies, including Val-Heft, Valiant, Value, Scd-Heft, Companion, Accomplish, Emphasis trial, RED-HF, COMPARE Trial, Innovate-HF, and the Guide-It study among others. He is the chair of the Development Committee at the Heart Failure Society of America and is a reviewer for the Journal of Congestive Heart Failure.
