Biography

Dr. Curlin's research employs qualitative interviews and cross-sectional surveys to examine the ways and extent to which physicians' religious commitments shape their clinical engagements. He has completed the first comprehensive national studies of physicians' religious characteristics and of physicians' approaches to religion/spirituality in medicine, and has studied the ways physicians understand and respond to religion-associated conflict in the medical encounter.
