Biography

Susan Eicher, MD, was awarded her BA, summa cum laude, from Rice University. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), receiving her MD with highest honors and was recognized for her outstanding academic achievement by being named the DeBakey Scholar. Dr. Eicher completed residency in surgery and otolaryngology at BCM and completed a head and surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, after which she joined the MDACC faculty as assistant professor in the department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. Susan returned to BCM in 2002 as associate professor in the Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and served as the Chief of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at Ben Taub General Hospital. Her administrative responsibilities have included service on the operating room committee and executive committee of the Harris Health System. Susan has always been dedicated to medical education. She served as chair of the BCM Student Affairs Committee and served on the student financial aid and scholarship committee. She has mentored numerous medical students and residents throughout her academic career. Dr. Eicher's head and neck cancer research garnered the American Cancer Society Texas Division Oncology Award in 1994. She maintains an active clinical and surgical practice. Her interests include head and neck tumors, thyroid and parathyroid disease, and salivary gland disorders.
