Biography

Gillian Hotz, PhD is the Director of the KiDZ Neuroscience Center and the UConcussion Program, Research Professor Department of Neurosurgery, the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis & the Sports Medicine Institute, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Hotz is the Principal Investigator on many funded national, state and local grants for injury prevention research projects and clinical trials for children with traumatic brain injury; most recently studying the effects of cannabinoids with TBI. Dr. Hotz has developed a comprehensive model for concussion management and is a credentialed ImPACT consultant and part of the medical team that manages UM athletes. She Chaired the State Concussion Task Force which worked on legislation being passed in March 2012 for the management of youth concussions. She has developed a Countywide Concussion Care program in Miami Dade County and also implemented an interactive educational program to high school football players.
