Biography

Harvey P. Katz, M.D., is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Harvard Medical School, where he has served as the Director of the HMS Primary Care Division and Primary Care Clerkship. Dr. Katz is a pediatrician with a subspecialty in pediatric endocrinology, and was the Medical Director at both the Harvard Community Health Plan, and the Johns Hopkins Columbia Medical Plan where he was also Chief of Pediatrics. Residency training was at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and pediatric endocrine fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He is author of the book, Telephone Medicine: Triage and Training for Primary Care and author of the Harvard online continuing education course, The Role of the Telephone in Clinical Medicine: Reducing Liability and Improving Care. Dr. Katz also served as Deputy Director of Pri-Med, Current Clinical Issues in Primary Care, the Harvard CME course in primary care, which was conducted in Boston and six other venues across the country.
