Irene Koolwijk

MD, MPH

Biography

Irene Koolwijk, MD, MPH grew up in the Netherlands and did her medical school training at University of Leiden. She then completed her Pediatric Residency Training at the Cleveland Clinic in 2009, and her Developmental-Behavioral fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2012, while simultaneously completing an MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health. She focused her fellowship research on describing comorbidities seen in children diagnosed with ADHD under the mentorship of Dr. Eugenia Chan and Dr. William Barbaresi. After fellowship training, Dr. Koolwijk joined the USC faculty in 2012 where she created a developmental access clinic in the primary care setting and worked closely with the developmental fellows, before moving to UCLA in June of 2016 to become program director of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship Program. Dr. Koolwijk's clinical work and research interest is in ADHD, learning difficulties, and behavioral feeding difficulties. Additionally she has a strong interest in developmental-behavioral educational training.
