Biography

Dr. Schmidt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with her BS in Preprofessional Studies. She completed medical school at the University of Illinois with AOA distinction. After her internship at Evanston Hospital, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University in 1998. Dr. Schmidt was in private practice for several years before returning to Northwestern to join faculty in 2002. She has been active in surgical education and simulation. She is co-director for Northwestern University Chicagoland Resident Phacoemulsification Training Course.
