Biography

Dr. Sussman is Board-certified in internal medicine with subspecialty certification in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. His research interests lie in acute liver failure and artificial liver support. He has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, most recently in Mathematical Medicine and Biology on the topic of mathematical modeling of chronic acetaminophen metabolism and liver injury. He is the Director of Project ECHO at Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center where he leads a program to instruct primary care providers in the diagnosis and management of patients with hepatitis C. His interest in drug use and addiction stems from the current hepatitis C epidemic among young injection drug users in America.
