Biography

Dr. Villareal graduated from Cebu Institute of Medicine, in the Philippines; finished her residency in Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University, Amarillo, Texas and fellowship in Endocrinology at Washington University School of Medicine School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO. She was a faculty at Washington University School of Medicine from 1999 to 2009 and transferred to University of New Mexico in 2009. At the same time, she was Chief of Endocrinology at the New Mexico VA. In 2014, she transferred to Baylor College of Medicine and Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center where she is currently employed. Her research interest is on the interaction between genetics, gonadal hormones and bone; with funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Veterans Affairs.
