Biography

Dr. Roy Weiss is the Chairman of the Department of Medicine and the Kathleen and Stanley Glaser Distinguished Chair in Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. As Chairman of the Department of Medicine he is responsible for the research and scholarly activity and clinical enterprise of over 350 full time faculty and 850 voluntary faculty. As a physician scientist his career has been devoted to diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases of the thyroid with the discovery of new genes and mechanisms of thyroid hormone action and disease. Dr. Weiss is the immediate past President of the Central Society for Translational and Clinical Research and co-edited the 1st and 2nd Editions of Genetic Diagnosis of Endocrine Diseases. He has published over 175 papers. He is a fellow in the American College of Physicians, The American College of Endocrinology and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
