Psychopharmacology: Prescribing with Confidence


Anxiety and Depression are common diagnoses in primary care patients. This presentation will outline pharmacological interventions to help those with psychic pain. More specifically, Dr. Vollmer will discuss what to do when the first SSRI fails to result in symptomatic improvement. In addition, Dr. Vollmer will discuss various options for treating anxiety which go beyond benzodiazepines. Finally, Dr. Vollmer will briefly discuss the use of antipsychotics and stimulants in a primary care practice. Non-pharmacological interventions will also be discussed to reinforce the complexity of treating mental distress.
