Health disparities related to kidney disease are significant, particularly as they relate to African American populations who have a four-fold increased risk for kidney failure when compared to majority populations. Hispanic Latino and Native American populations also see an increased risk for kidney problems related to a higher prevalence of diabetes and hypertension. We will review the best strategies for early detection, risk stratification, and the treatment of chronic kidney disease.
