From Pill to Practice: Medication Updates for Primary Care
Davidson Ballroom
Description
Staying current with medications across the breadth and depth of primary care is daunting. This presentation will provide a concise review of drugs commonly seen in primary care -- or specifically requested by patients -- based upon the application of the most current evidence and guidelines currently available.
Learning Objectives
- Identify commonly prescribed biologics along with their derivations and mechanisms of action
- Describe the role of the primary care provider in the necessary pre-testing and appropriate vaccinations required for a patient who will start a biologic
- Evaluate emerging evidence supporting the role of GLP1-RAs and SGLT2-Is for long-term cardio-renal metabolic health
