South Ballroom

Description

Join us for an interactive 60-minute session delving into diabetes and weight management, featuring a patient case interspersed with didactic slides, live audience polling, and Q&A. Explore the link between type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity, highlighting the importance of sustained weight loss in reducing long-term health risks, while mastering therapy intensification and shared decision-making for personalized treatment plans that prioritize weight loss as a cornerstone of T2DM management.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine the interrelationship between T2DM and obesity and the therapeutic benefits of sustained weight loss on the long-term health risks of both conditions
  • Prioritize prompt therapy intensification and weight management for patients with T2DM, including the selection of therapy that provides the highest likelihood of achieving both glycemic and weight loss goals, in accordance with current guideline recommendations
  • Apply shared decision-making skills to establish individualized, long-term treatment goals and strategies that incorporate sustained weight loss as an integral component of T2DM management
