Overview
CMS is proposing a new HCPCS code for 2027 for Shared Medical Appointments (SMAs). These are group visits for patients with the same chronic condition, addressing both clinical care and social isolation. These SMAs are for patients who have an existing relationship with the practitioner, give explicit consent, and have a shared medical condition. They are co-lead with an allied professional.
