Biography

David Pegues, MD, is a professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He received AB and MD degrees from the University of Chicago. He completed his training in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital, in epidemiology and preventive medicine at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and in infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital. Currently, he serves as the hospital epidemiologist for UCLA Healthcare and directs the infectious disease fellowship program at UCLA Medical Center. His research interests include antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, device-associated infections, molecular epidemiology, and opportunistic infections, particularly in solid organ transplant recipients and persons with cystic fibrosis.
