Abraham is a board-certified Physician currently serving as the Director of Public Health, Integration, Street Medicine, and Workforce Development at Kedren Community Health Center in Los Angeles, California, a Historically Black Institution (HBI), Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and Acute Psychiatric Hospital (APH). He holds academic roles as Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family & Community Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU), a Historically Black Medical School (HBMS) and Adjunct Clinical Professor of Family & Community Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM). He also serves on the Curriculum Committee of the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine (KSOM). Dr. Abraham earned his medical degree from the University of Texas School of Medicine and completed a residency in Family & Community Medicine at the USC Keck School of Medicine and completed a Fellowship in Global Injury Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. As a respected public health activist, Dr. Abraham has been heavily involved in the fight against COVID-19, supporting both underserved and underrepresented patients and advocating for equal access to vaccines. He is also a healthcare advocate and practitioner for communities of color, LGBTQIA+, people experiencing homelessness (PEH), people living with HIV (PLWH), people with substance use disorders (SUD), people who inject drugs (PWID), people living with severe mental illness and developmental disorders (SMI), people with histories of incarceration including justice- and systems-impacted persons (JI), migrant workers, among other populations. Dr. Abraham serves as a speaker on advocacy and equity in healthcare and public health conferences including the American Medical Association (AMA) National Advocacy Conference (NAC), International Conference on Physician Health (ICPH), and the National Association for Continuing Education (NACE) Primary Care Conference (PCC). His peer-reviewed research on the Global Burden of Diseases & Injuries has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), The Lancet, and the International Journal of Injury Control & Safety Promotion. Dr. Abraham is Past President of the Los Angeles County Medical Association (LACMA), Trustee of the California Medical Association (CMA), Chair of the AMA Council on Constitution & Bylaws (CCB), and Delegate of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). He is also a member of the National Medical Association (NMA), National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA), serves on the Board of Directors of the Charles R. Drew Medical Society (CRDMS), Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), Urban Voices Project (UVP), the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA), and serves on two National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Steering Committees: on Climate & Health (CCN) and Clinician Well-Being (CWB). He also serves as Fire Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles, LGBTQ+ Commissioner for the County of Los Angeles, and the Physician Member of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Hearing Board. His tireless work has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the California Black Health Network Health (CBHN) Equity Champion Award, Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) MLK Legacy Community Justice Award, Hero of Family Medicine Award, the CMA Compassionate Service Award, and the AMA Excellence in Medicine Award. Dr. Abraham has also been featured in the LA Times, LA Sentinel, MSNBC Rachel Maddow Show, Vice News, Spectrum News, CBS News, among others.
