Biography

Sameer Badlani, MD, FACP is the Chief Health Information Officer & Vice-President for Sutter Health a non-profit integrated delivery network in California His focus is on promoting the clinical adoption of the EHR through provider engagement and leveraging innovative technologies for improving health for consumers of healthcare beyond the confines of a healthcare institution. His interests include maximizing the potential of clinical decision support and generating practice-based evidence and using it at the point of care. Dr. Badlani speaks nationally and consults on topics in clinical informatics, quality and innovation in healthcare. In 2013 he was recognized in Crain's Chicago 2013: 40 under 40 and nominated to the board of AMDIS the premier international organization of CMIOs and executive physician leaders in Informatics. Dr. Badlani received his medical degree from the University of Delhi in India. He completed his internal medicine residency training and served as chief resident at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa and received training in bio-medical informatics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Previous to joining Sutter Health he was the CHIO at Intermountain Healthcare and before then the CMIO and assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences.
