Biography

David Baron MSEd, DO attended Emory Univ, Temple Univ, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Univ of Southern California. He completed his residency in psychiatry and fellowship in consultation/liaison at USC-LAC. Dr. Baron is the former Deputy Clinical Director of the NIMH, Chair of Behavioral Science at FAES, and co-director of the Office of Education of the NIH-IMP in Bethesda, MD. From 1998-2010, he was Chair of the Dept. of Psychiatry at Temple Univ. School of Medicine. Dr. Baron is currently Asst Dean for International Relations, and Prof and Vice Chair of psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. He also serves as Chief of Psychiatry at the University/Norris Hospital. Dr. Baron has over 120 publications, including 3 books. He is very active in Global Psychiatry and chairs a Section for the World Psychiatric Association. He has won numerous teaching and research awards, including the Kennedy Award and America's Top Sports Psychiatrist. His current research interests are in the psychiatric aspects of head trauma in athletes and novel protein biomarkers for concussion.
