Biography

Dr Bloch's undergraduate degree is from Princeton University, and he earned his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, DC. He subsequently completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, where he also completed a Fellowship in hypertension and vascular medicine. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr Bloch has been designated a Clinical Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension, a Clinical Lipid Specialist by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology, and a Vascular Medicine Specialist, but the American Board of Vascular Medicine. Dr. Bloch currently serves as president of the Board for the American Heart Association Northern Nevada Chapter and a member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH) and the Pacific Lipid Association. He is also Fellow in the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Hypertension, the National Lipid Association, and the Society of Vascular Medicine. Currently, Dr. Bloch serves as Medical Director of Vascular Medicine and Anticoagulation Services at the Renown Medical Center Institute for Heart and Vascular Health. He is also the Clinical Case Coordinator for the first and second year medical students at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Bloch has served as a principal investigator on several clinical trials and his academic work has been published in multiple journals and textbooks. He is a frequent participant in educational projects around the nation focused on best practices in the management of hypertension, dyslipidemia, anticoagulation, vascular disease, and heart disease and stroke prevention. As a principal investigator on several clinical trials, Dr Bloch's research has focused on the diagnosis and management of renovascular disease and exploring novel means of overcoming barriers to hypertension and dyslipidemia control. He is also a co-investigator for the landmark Women's Health Initiative. Dr Bloch currently writes a monthly column for the Journal of Clinical Hypertension, and his work has been published in multiple journals and textbooks. He is a frequent participant in educational projects around the nation focused on best practices in the management of hypertension, dyslipidemia and heart disease and stroke prevention.
