Biography

Courtenay R. Bruce, J.D., M.A., is an assistant professor of medicine and medical ethics at Baylor College of Medicine's Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy. In this capacity, she is the director of Houston Methodist’s Bioethics Program. Professor Bruce has a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston with an emphasis on health law and a Master's of Arts in Bioethics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She is a certified mediator and is licensed to practice law in Texas. While pursuing her master's degree, Professor Bruce completed a two-year, full-time clinical ethics fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. Her scholarly work has been published in several law review journals, bioethics journals, and medical journals. Prior to law school, Professor Bruce taught high school in Houston, Texas.
