Biography

Dr Connor is currently the Research Director of the Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Program and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center. After graduating from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, she completed her residency in psychiatry at Duke Medical Center and remained at Duke to complete a research fellowship in clinical psychopharmacology. Dr Connor’s research lies in various aspects of anxiety and mood disorders, their phenomenology, assessment, and treatment. Her research interests include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobia, performance anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depressive disorders. Her work includes treatment trials of novel pharmacologic agents, dietary supplements, and psychosocial therapies. She is also interested in the relationship between resilience, stress reactions, and general wellbeing. Her research in this area includes the development of outcome measures and assessment of resilience in the general population and in clinical samples with depression and anxiety.
