Biography

System Chairman, Hospital Medicine Medical Director, Regional Business Development Ochsner Health Professor of Medicine, University of Queensland and Ochsner Clinical School Steven B. Deitelzweig, MD, MMM, FACC, SFHM, FACP, RVT, is a hospital medicine and vascular medicine specialist at Ochsner Health in New Orleans. He serves as System Chairman of Hospital Medicine and Medical Director of Regional Business Development and is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Queensland – Ochsner Clinical School and Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine. His research and clinical focus is on venous thromboembolism and anticoagulation, including thromboprophylaxis and quality improvement in hospitalized patients. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and was a collaborator on the landmark EXCLAIM trial of extended VTE prophylaxis. He is a leader in several hospital medicine and cardiovascular societies, including the Society of Hospital Medicine, ACC, AMA, and the Anticoagulation Forum. He has served as president of the Gulf States Hospitalist Society since 2007.
