Biography

Dr. Betty Del Rio Rodriguez is a graduate of Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and completed her Pediatrics training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, followed by a fellowship in academic general pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital and master's in public health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. She became a faculty in Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and has dedicated the last 10 years to practicing at the Pasadena Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center within the Harris Health System in Pasadena, Texas. She has witnessed the critical need for improving mental health care access among underserved and minority populations. Motivated by this gap, she pursued further training in pediatric behavior and mental health. She became a certified Primary Care Level Ill Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Provider and trained through the REACH Institute in screening and diagnosing ADHD, Anxiety and Depression in the primary care settings. Beyond her clinical roles, Dr. Del Rio Rodriguez is actively involved in medical education. She imparts her expertise by teaching pediatric residents, medical students, and fellows, in outpatient pediatric primary care including pediatric mental health. Her commitment to improving mental health training and outcomes reflects her dedication to addressing healthcare disparities within diverse communities.
