Biography
David Fessler, MD is an Infectious Disease physician with 15 years experience in academic and community health settings. As a Senior Director and HIV Regional Medical Expert with Gilead US Medical affairs, Dr. Fessler leads medical education initiatives and research opportunities to drive impact and improve health outcomes in people with HIV and people benefiting from HIV prevention. Prior to his work at Gilead, he served as Director of Clinical Practice at Whitman-Walker Health, an FQHC in Washington, DC specializing in HIV treatment and prevention and LGBTQ health. In this role, he also built a successful injectables program for HIV treatment and prevention, running an interdisciplinary team and creating protocols relating to internal workflows, patient tracking, insurance navigation/payment, and training. He also has a strong background in medical education, coordinating medical rotations at Whitman-Walker Health, and collaboratively developing an HIV primary care residency track at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was on faculty from 2011 - 2016. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 2008 and fellowship in Infectious Diseases in 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
