Biography

Dr. Hamilton earned her bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) at Princeton University in 1980 and then went on to earn her medical degree at Harvard Medical School in 1984. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology, all at UCLA. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplantation. Michele A. Hamilton, MD, is Director of the Heart Failure Program at Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. She also is a Clinical Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Hamilton was Vice-Chief of Staff at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and for over ten years, Co-director of the UCLA Heart Failure Program. Dr. Hamilton's research and clinical focus is on heart failure, cardiac transplantation, echocardiography and exercise physiology. A prolific writer and researcher in the field of cardiology and cardiac transplantation, Dr. Hamilton has written 89 articles, seven book chapters and 227 abstracts. She has been an editorial reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Journal of Cardiac Failure. A dedicated teacher, Dr. Hamilton is a recipient of UCLA's Department of Medicine Faculty Teaching Award as well as the California Heart Center Foundation's Distinguished Leadership Award.
