Biography

Dr. Khan is an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine where he serves as the medical director of the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic and as an associate program director in the general residency program. Dr. Khan completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa before completing medical school and residency at Baylor College of Medicine. During his last year of residency, he served as chief resident in Psychiatry and was awarded the Eugen Kahn Award as the Outstanding Psychiatry Resident. After residency, Dr. Khan completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University under Dr. Phillip Resnick. After fellowship, he returned to Baylor to work in the clinic that he is now the director of. The clinic focuses on the treatment of complex and treatment resistant illnesses with a particular focus on depression, anxiety, and OCD, often in the setting of additional complex medical comorbidities. Dr. Khan currently leads the mock trial and forensic didactic series for residents and has presented locally and nationally on forensic topics including boundary violations, peer support, changing perceptions of emotional harm, violence risk assessment, and gun violence as well as teaching around clinical pearls for non-psychiatrists like the presentation today on the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders.
