Biography

Laura Kogelman, MD, graduated cum laude with a BS degree from Yale University and attended Washington University in Saint Louis for medical school. She did her internship and residency in internal medicine at New England Medical Center (now Tufts Medical Center) in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed a Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women's Hospital Combined Infectious Disease Fellowship in 2002. Since then, she has been on staff at Tufts Medical Center and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. She serves as director of the Infectious Disease Clinic and of the Traveler's Health Service at Tufts Medical Center. She received her Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Gorgas Course in Tropical Medicine in 2007. The Gorgas Course is based in Lima, Peru, and is affiliated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her main areas of interest are HIV and travel medicine. She has been a site PI for several multicenter HIV clinical trials and is a site PI for the Boston Area Travel Medicine Network (BATMN). BATMN is a CDC-funded research collaboration of 5 travel clinics in the greater Boston area seeing approximately 7500 travelers per year in urban, suburban, academic, university-affiliated, and independent facilities
