Dr. Kubitschek, a general internist, is one of the "early adopters" of EMR technology-he's been using an electronic medical record for 10 years, and has been involved in software development for several years. Carolina Internal Medicine is the only clinical practice named to ADVANCE for Health Information Executives "25 Most Influential Organizations in Healthcare IT." Dr. Kubitschek has spoken to physician groups, insurers, and IT professionals on the advantages and pitfalls of computerizing patient medical records. More than 300 practices in the U.S. and Europe have sent observers to see how Carolina Internal Medicine Associates uses its EMR. Dr. Kubitschek previously served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He has contributed articles to such journals as The Annals of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Medicine, Western Journal of Medicine, Journal of Respiratory Diseases, and Chest and has been quoted on technology topics in a number of publications, including Medical Economics.
