Biography

Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director of the Tropical Medicine Program. She is a Travel Medicine certified clinician with experience in infectious disease disaster preparedness and interest in education in tropical medicine and global health topics for health care professionals. An infectious disease specialist, she has developed collaborative exchanges with tropical medicine institutions located in Latin America and has created the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved tropical medicine international rotations in Cali (Colombia), the Virgin Islands, and Guatemala for internal medicine residents and infectious disease fellows. Currently she is working in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Florida Department of Health to develop educational and clinical programs in Chagas disease and neurocysticercosis in South Florida.
