Biography

Medical Director San Diego Sports Medicine Weight and Wellness Center San Diego, California Michelle Look, MD, FAAFP, is board certified in family, sports, and obesity medicine and is in private practice at San Diego Sports Medicine Weight and Wellness Center. Dr. Look received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed a family practice residency at Sharp Healthcare in La Mesa, California, and a sports medicine fellowship at San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center. After 23 years in primary care sports medicine, she transitioned her practice to full-time obesity medicine. Dr. Look is a member of the Obesity Medical Association and The Obesity Society. She serves on the National Advocacy Committee for the Obesity Medicine Association and the Clinical Practice Section for The Obesity Society. Dr. Look is the secretary and founding board member for the San Diego Obesity Medicine Society. Previously, Dr. Look was the medical director of clinical research at San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center. She has served as principal investigator of numerous clinical trials assessing pharmacotherapies for obesity as well as authoring several publications on obesity medicine in primary care. Her affiliations span a diverse range of interests and organizations, including a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine; board member of the American Heart Association, San Diego Chapter; former national medical director for The Susan G. Komen 3-Day®; member of the medical board of directors for Major League Professional Rugby (MLR) and USA Rugby; USA Rugby national team physician; and World Rugby Tournament team physician and independent concussion consultant. In 2021, she served as the Tokyo 2020 tournament medical director for both men’s and women’s Olympic rugby tournaments.
