Biography

Melissa Magwire is a master’s prepared registered nurse and certified diabetes education and care specialist with more than 30 years of experience. She provides direct patient care to patients living with diabetes, focusing on cardiovascular risk reduction. She is a program director for the Cardiometabolic Center Alliance in Kansas City, Missouri. She has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and served on the editorial board of Clinical Diabetes, as well currently serving as a member of the ADCES Clinical Practice Committee, the AHA Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Diabetes Science Committee, the AHA Science Advisory Panel for Improving Healthcare Professional Knowledge and Competence in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis. She represents the CMCA as a member of the steering committee related to the CMCA’s collaboration with the AHA in the development of CKMH Certification and contributes to numerous national and international advisory boards as a recognized key opinion leader.
