Biography

Dr. Makowski is a Palliative Care Physician, Internist, Chief of Palliative Care at Exeter Hospital and Voluntary Associate Professor of Medicine at UMass Medical School. She received her medical degree from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, internal medicine residency at Baystate Medical Center, a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at University of Rochester, and Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship at San Diego Hospice, UCSD. Dr. Makowski is active member of American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, where she has served on their Quality, Leadership, and Humanities Committees, and participated in board review writing and editorial committees for HPMPass. She has also been active with both the Center for Mindfulness and the Gold Foundation, fostering humanism in medicine, practices and approaches that have influenced her teaching, mentorship, and leadership.
