Biography

Meera Patel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine-Hematology & Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she is affiliated with the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 2015, subsequently completing an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston from 2015 to 2018. She completed her Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, where she also served as Chief Fellow from July 2020 to June 2021, which has profoundly shaped her research focus. Her work primarily revolves around investigating the impact of mutations on immune checkpoint inhibitor responses, side effects, and targetable mutations in non-small cell lung cancer. Dr. Patel also has a special interest in mesothelioma and is dedicated to expanding the range of treatment options to enhance disease control beyond immunotherapy.
