Biography
Vishal Patel, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He then earned his medical degree at the University of Florida, where he also completed his internal medicine residency and served as Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Patel subsequently pursued fellowship training in Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, after which he joined the faculty. He also serves as Vice President of Clinical Partnerships and AI Education at OpenEvidence, a clinical AI platform that supports evidence-based decision-making at the point of care. His work focuses on the responsible integration of artificial intelligence into clinical practice, clinician education, and partnerships with medical societies to bring guideline-based evidence to the point of care. Dr. Patel is committed to building AI fluency among practicing clinicians to improve both patient outcomes and the clinical workflow.
