Biography

Dr Repas is a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Internal Medicine, University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Dr Repas has been a principal investigator and subinvestigator for a number of clinical research studies relating to type 1 and type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia. His clinical practice is with Campbell County Health in Gillette, Wyoming. Dr Repas completed his undergraduate studies at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he received a bachelor of science in biology. He received his DO from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his postgraduate residency in internal medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno, and his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Madison. Dr Repas has been board certified in 4 medical subspecialties: endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism (American Board of Internal Medicine [ABIM]); clinical lipidology (American Board of Clinical Lipidology); internal medicine (ABIM); and nutrition (American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists). Dr Repas also has been awarded other certifications, including Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound, Certified Clinical Densitometrist, Certified Diabetes Educator, and Certified Physician Investigator. Dr Repas is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American Diabetes Association, American College of Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Internists, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, American Heart Association, International Society for Clinical Densitometry, National Lipid Association, and Wilderness Medical Society. Dr Repas greatly enjoys teaching. He has been honored to be an invited lecturer at regional and national meetings. Dr Repas has been the author of review articles and editorials published in peer-reviewed journals. Outside medicine, he enjoys working with his family on their small farm in the Black Hills of South Dakota and participating in a variety of outdoor activities. Dr Repas has been a beekeeper for over 30 years, with a focus on honey bee genetics and bee breeding.
