Biography
Dr. Hicham Skali is a staff cardiologist in the Preventive Cardiology Section and Noninvasive Cardiovascular Imaging Program in the Cardiovascular Division at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), with a joint appointment in the Department of Radiology (Nuclear Medicine). He serves as Medical Director of the BWH Cardiac Rehabilitation program, and Executive Director of the Cardiac Imaging Core Laboratory. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on clinical and imaging biomarkers predicting cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in high-risk populations, particularly patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles, clinical guidelines, and book chapters. Dr. Skali completed his medical training at Faculté de Médecine de Casablanca, specialty training in internal medicine and cardiology at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, and a cardiovascular imaging fellowship at BWH. As Principal Investigator of the AHRQ-funded TAKEHeart Project, he developed strategies to improve cardiac rehabilitation referral patterns and program utilization.
